It looks like most of the hurdles to the Dell EMC merger are out of the way and it will soon be time for the conjoined company to sort out it’s product mix. Considering that EMC was the leader of the storage industry and that Dell had a large storage business already, there will undoubtedly be products that cease to exist. One of the most interesting areas is enterprise flash, where there is significant overlap. Marc mentions that he has heard a rumor about EMC’s XtremIO being shelved to make way for the all-flash VMAX product. It will be interesting to watch the discussions coming from Round Rock and Hopkington in the weeks and months to come.
